How Did AAUW SEV Start?
The Southeast Valley (AZ) Branch is one of fourteen branches in Arizona. It was formed due to the efforts of one special and current, active member, Margaret Horn. She gathered together fifteen eligible women and spearheaded the charter process that resulted in approval for branch status at the 1989 National Convention in Washington, DC.
Initially, meetings took place in individuals’ homes, churches, schools, and libraries. Membership grew as the group became better known. One other charter member Terry Meury continued to be active until her passing.
