Successful Fundraising Supports College Pursuits for Women in Southeast Valley

In June of 2024, Southeast Valley Branch awarded a total of $10,000 in scholarships to eight deserving women in support of the AAUW mission to advance education and equity for women and girls.

Raffle ticket sales in Sun Lakes and the local community funded these need-based scholarships to women attending Chandler Gilbert Community College. Our primary local scholarship fundraiser for 2024 was a Happy Hour Fashion Show that was held on Friday, February 2 at the Cottonwood San Tan Ballroom.

In the past 14 years, the Southeast Valley Branch of AAUW has raised over $53,000 to fund scholarships that have assisted local women including recent high school graduates as well as women returning to school later in life to further their career aspirations.

The women making up our scholarship recipients in 2024 are pursuing careers in a variety of STEM related fields that include Nursing and Applied Human Behavior, Computer Science, Pre-Med Studies, and Mortuary Science.

Membership in AAUW is open to all women with an associate or higher degree from an accredited college or university. We welcome and encourage you to join us at our monthly Branch meeting. Each monthly meeting is an excellent opportunity to introduce AAUW and our dynamic organization to potential members.
