What We Do

MONTHLY PROGRAMS

AAUW  SEV plans and holds monthly meetings with programs related to the mission. Meetings vary in date and time in an effort to accommodate the varying schedules of our members.

Programs are open to the public. Information about the current branch program can easily be found on the Branch Meeting Page.

STUDY/INTEREST GROUPS

Study/Interest groups are a great way to get involved in AAUW SEV. Our groups enjoy the arts and culture, reading and study, food and fun. Interesting conversations occur in smaller group settings with like-minded women, and fast friendships can be made.

PUBLIC POLICY
Legislative Day 2024

Since AAUW’s founding, members have spoken out about policies important to women and girls. With their voices, invaluable legislation has been passed, including the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Hate Crimes Prevention Act, and the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.

AAUW uses lobbying and grassroots efforts to push forward policies that break through educational and economic barriers for women.

BRANCH STRATEGIC PLANS

The branch’s Strategic Plans guide branch activities in the areas of STEM, college/university partnerships, and fundraising.

STEM

We are excited to introduce a new cooperative SEV Branch STEM initiative with San Marcos Elementary School. A Lego League Robotics Program will begin in October 2025 and run for 15 weeks. The program will include eight to ten fourth and fifth grade girls in an after school robot building and underwater focused mission achieving adventure. Our SEV Branch provided the special Lego robot building kits along with the ocean themed “SUBMERGED” field kit and the special table built for robot assembly and testing.

Our branch will also provide volunteers to work with the students during the weekly sessions.

COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY PARTNERSHIPS

Join a global community that is passionately committed to building a better future for women and girls — sign up your school as an AAUW college/university member. Whether your school is a community college, a large state university, or a small liberal arts college, your staff, faculty, and students will benefit from AAUW membership.

As the leading voice in promoting equity and education for women and girls since 1881, AAUW has deep roots in the academic community. C/U memberships open doors to grants and fellowships, leadership training, professional development, educational resources, and advocacy tools. Demonstrate your school’s commitment to equity in higher education and join us today.

FUNDRAISING

AAUW SEV actively participates in fundraising for AAUW Funds and our local scholarship. Due to our annual spring fundraising event we have provided local scholarships to many deserving women each year.
