MONTHLY PROGRAMS
AAUW SEV plans and holds monthly meetings with programs related to the mission. Meetings vary in date and time in an effort to accommodate the varying schedules of our members.
Programs are open to the public. Information about the current branch program can easily be found on the Branch Meeting Page.
STUDY/INTEREST GROUPS
Study/Interest groups are a great way to get involved in AAUW SEV. Our groups enjoy the arts and culture, reading and study, food and fun. Interesting conversations occur in smaller group settings with like-minded women, and fast friendships can be made.
PUBLIC POLICY
Since AAUW’s founding, members have spoken out about policies important to women and girls. With their voices, invaluable legislation has been passed, including the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Hate Crimes Prevention Act, and the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.
AAUW uses lobbying and grassroots efforts to push forward policies that break through educational and economic barriers for women.
BRANCH STRATEGIC PLANS
The branch’s Strategic Plans guide branch activities in the areas of STEM, college/university partnerships, and fundraising.
STEM
Our 2023 SEV budget included a $295 scholarship for a girl from a Title 1 school to attend a spring week-long camp called Camp Innovation at the Arizona Science Center. At this camp, future scientists will investigate extreme weather patterns from monsoons to avalanches! Another $130 was allocated to support girls who wish to attend the Saturday events such as the Ocean Investigators event where the girls dive deep to discover the weird and wonderful elements of the ocean The goal of these events is to expose girls to interesting and engaging STEM related activities that will spur their interest in learning.
